Welcome to LFA’s Award Program.
My name is Thor, and I am a survivor of sexual abuse. I have found that healing from such is quite a difficult task. However, I stumbled upon an untapped resource, the Internet. I began publishing, and talking about my entire life, but who wants to know? It turned out that by telling my story I was promoting child abuse awareness.
Over time, my web site turned into exactly that, and I dove deeper and deeper into child advocacy. It was then I realized I was healing faster than ever. Helping people, talking to kids, educating parents, and alerting school personnel built my confidence that was once shattered. I realize that many survivors turned to advocacy, but there are a good many others who simply know that kids need help, and they dive in because they love kids, and the thought that their work might prevent even one child from being abused, or maltreated, or that one child will eat because they spent ten minutes sending five dollars to a family.
It is a beautiful thing. Once childhood is over, there is potential to relive it through existing children. There are those kids that need help, so they must receive the help they deserve.
There are two awards that you may apply for. Each has Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Merit. The programs are similar, but the content evaluation is quite different.
